Madrid Ballet - Dracula Coming Soon 2011

Madrid Ballet - Dracula

Besides being a classic work, it also deals with today’s ideas such as a dream of being immortal, loneliness, infection, love between different people, being dependant, two-faced human beings, dialectic between love and hate, domination and being dominated, to hurt and being hurt, pleasure and disease, light and shadow, sleep and wakefulness.   The story of Stoker is not only a powerful source of ideas, but also a breeding ground for visual concepts.   A story filled with shadows and lights that creates also nowadays commotions.   The Madrid Ballet version is based on powerful audiovisual effects, where the scenery, sound, music and dance melt into a unique space. A performance that collects the intense and worrying atmosphere of the story, where we are moving from reality to supernaturalism, prosaic to esoteric, from light and love to shadow, passion and blood.

About Madrid Ballet

Madrid Ballet was founded in 2005. The aim of the company is developing play to a new way of movement. Each performance talks to us, tells us a story; it is not just a abstract concept of movement.
Madrid Ballet retakes the libretto and uses the new media for its staging - joining past with present.
The main goal of Madrid Ballet is to combine the different artistic expressions such as cinema, dance and narration; flowing into each other to create new plastic and emotional experiences involving all our senses.
Tomas Lozano, producer and manager, and Maria Graciani, artistic director, create the original projects: writing the libretto and the dramatic guidelines and then the choreographer develops the dancing scenes. This is a very unusual way of working nowadays, which reminds us of the business structure of the beginning of the last century.
