Giselle
One of the most famous ballet ensambles in the world, The Russian State Ballet, featuring stars of the BOLSHOI, and with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, guests Malmö Arena with the classic romantic ballet "Giselle".
Russian State Ballet was established in 1979. The principal dancers of the company came from the upper ranks of the Bolshoi and Kirov, as well as the Stanislavsky Ballet, and the companies of Riga, Kiev and even Warsaw.
Under the Bolshoi star-soloist and choreographer Viatcheslav Gordeev's leadership the ballet company was shaped into the high degree of artistic expression.
Today, the Russian National Ballet is its own institution, with over 50 dancers many of whom are laureates of national and international ballet competitions.
The Russian State Ballet presents an exciting and demanding programme of classical and modern ballet, created by traditional and new choreographers like Ivanov, Petipa, Gorsky or Gordeev himself.

The libretto is inspired by a poem by Heinrich Heine; the ballet tells the story of a peasant girl named Giselle whose ghost, after her premature death of the broken heart, protects her lover from the vengeance of a group of evil female spirits. The ballet was first presented in Paris in 1841.
A 40 dancers' strong ensamble, featuring stars of the Bolshoi Theatre, and with Malmö Symphony Orchestra, gives a spectacular performance in world class. The stage at Malmö Arena will be downscaled to a more intimate, theatrical version.
