Årstidene in The Norwegian National Opera 2010

25th September - 18th October 2010

Årstidene (Four Seasons)

Main House

The four seasons, as you have never experienced them before. That is a promise as Jo Strømgren takes on Vivaldi’s four seasons and the dancers of the Norwegian National Ballet.
Jo Strømgren is a versatile artist and one of Norway’s cultural exports. He is a director and playwright, and not least a choreographer. He has created more than 50 dance pieces and toured more than 50 countries. It is the fourth time he creates dance for the National Ballet, but it is the first time a full-night performance is on the programme.
He brings his strong choreographic signature and elements from the theatre to the Main Stage in Bjørvika. Here, his aim is to turn spring, summer, autumn and winter upside down. Strømgren has always wanted to use Vivaldi’s amazing music. The fact that the music is so well known also allows more room for choreographic capers and evocative dancing. Get ready for Jo Strømgren’s seasons and a rare dance experience.
