Golden? Sixties

The 1960s was an important period in Czech history, marked by a relaxation of the political, societal and cultural atmosphere as compared to the 1950s. At the same time, economic problems escalated and the Communist rhetoric and concept of power clashed with real developments in Czechoslovakia, culminating in the democratisation process known as the Prague Spring.

 

Treasures of Moravia – Story Of the Historical Land
21th September 2010 - 6th July 2011
The exhibition shows the historical and cultural context of the territory of Moravia. The phenomenon of Moravia is dealt with in a chronological line in a sophisticated museum presentation as well as in less traditional ways.

Royal Marriage 1310 and the Expansion of the House of Luxembourg in the 14th and 15th centuries
15th September 2010 - 6th February 2011
The National Museum in Prague in cooperation with the Friends of Italy and Luxembourg Society (Amitié italo-luxemburgeoises) organize an exhibition of sculptural and stone carving works on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the wedding of King John of Luxembourg and Elisabeth Premyslid, which took place on September 1, 1310.
