20th Millau en jazz... lasting emotion!
20 years isn’t such a common age for a festival; especially considering it managed to keep the principles which founded it in 1992 on the banks of river Tarn: an associative structure, artistic risk-taking combined to quality demands, a friendly dimension and festive spirit.
Reknowned artists have sprinkled its history with lightning sparks: they are named Don Pullen, Taraf de Haïdouks, Romano Sclavis Texier, Titi Robin, Laurent de Wilde, Carlos Maza, Glenn Ferris, David Murray, Hadouk trio, Omar Sosa, David Krakauer, Ibrahim Maalouf, Yaron Herman, Dhafer Youssef… How can we mention them all? More than 300 bands have sawn happiness in our heads, turning a concert beneath the stars or under the sun into a magical moment.
In 20 years of course, everything has accelerated, at least in appearance! We have taken the best from the formidable technological leap which makes communication, access to information, and sound quality easier. But we left the demagogy of it to others; to the culture of instantaneous and disposable, we prefer talents which build up with time and generate true emotions. Hey, here’s a slogan: lasting émotion!
We love that incredibly generous atmosphere which binds the audience to artists, the echoes left behind in many villages of Southern Aveyron, the cultural mixes that are just as many spaces for opening up, and our own way to fight against preconcieved ideas.
