First time in Norway. At last, the legendary Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch company is visiting Norway. When choreographer Pina Bausch died in 2009, she left behind a world of dance that had been changed forever. Pina Bausch’s dance theatre, a mix of dance and theatre, with elements of surrealism, raw realism and sexual drama, simply revolutionised dance.
Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch is also known for its strong, fearless and unique dancers. Now, 12 of them are coming to the Opera with Vollmond (Full Moon). It is an intense, sensual and athletic work from 2006, with raining, running and streaming water. As so often with Pina Bausch’s work, this is about the relationship between man and woman. It digs deep but it is also funny, with music ranging from Leftfield to Tom Waits.
