Tallinn International Piano Competition 10 - 17 November 2011

Tallinn International Piano Competition

Venue: Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre & Estonia Concert Hall
Location: Tallinn, Harju
Date: 10 - 17 November 2011

Estonia’s piano traditions date back centuries, as is reflected in the second international pianists’ competition being held in Tallinn. Young pianists from all over the world between the ages of 16 and 32 will be putting themselves to the test, sharing their experiences and displaying their skills to audiences.
The winner of the first competition, held in 2006, was Estonia’s own Mihkel Poll, which is a sign of the strength of the country’s pianists at the global level. In addition to Western composers, the obligatory pieces for the competition include piano music composed by Estonia’s Mart Saar, Lepo Sumera and Arvo Pärt. All rounds of the competition will be open to the public, and the finalists will be joined on stage by the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra.
The first round of the competition takes place from 10–12 November (at 9.00), second round 13–14 November (at 10.00) in the chamber hall of Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. The finale concerts take place on 16. and 17. November at 19.00 in Estonia concert hall. All rounds are open to public, the finale will be performed together with Estonian National Symphony Orchestra.
