Their first actual Monk-Mingus concert was given as a quintet at the 2005 Turku Jazz festival. Clinic has explored Mingus' output since 2006 when they collaborated with Ted Curson, who played in the composer legend's band. This year the group focuses on Monk's output, bringing forth pieces that are heard a bit less often.

In fall 2011 Jazz Club Monk will invite top Finnish jazz groups and emerging new artists from the Sibelius Academy to give exhilarating performances in an intimate setting. Local Turku groups will get a chance to show off their talent during these club nights. Restaurant Aurora at the Radisson Blu Marina Palace will host a series of jazz dinners with free admission. Concerts organised at Logomo are set to become major events in Finnish jazz this year.
The Flame Jazz Clubs will create a panoramic view of the vibrant world of Finnish jazz. The series will bring together the really active players from the Finnish jazz community. The Flame will truly raise the roof on Finnish jazz in Turku during the Capital of Culture year 2011!
Turku-born jazz musician Jussi Fredriksson will act as the artistic director for the Flame clubs. Turku Jazz, Turku Music Institute, Turku Conservatorium and the Harlem Jazz Club, among others, will cooperate in organising various concerts and jam sessions. The event series will be produced by the Finnish Jazz Federation.
