The Miskolc Symphony Orchestra
The Hungarian Symphony Orchestra, Miskolc is the professional symphony orchestra of Miskolc, established in 1963. As the only fully professional orchestra of the region it safeguards the presence of symphonic music.
The concert season extends from September through June with 70-80 performances in Miskolc, in Hungary and in Europe (eg. Poland, Slovakia, Italy, Germany and Spain) annually.
Due to its extensive international relations the orchestra often performs at prestigious festivals abroad – in 2009 the Hungarian Symphony Orchestra, Miskolc performed the opening concert of the Lediecigiornate di Brescia international music, theatre and dance festival in Italy. The orchestra is a regular performer at the „Bartók …” International Opera Festival, Miskolc.
In Miskolc the orchestra performs in subscription series, individual and summer concerts, youth concerts and orchestra performances for kids and families.
