Frikar Second House

They are the ones with raw dancing, high-kicks, somersaults and exuberant cavorting. They are the ones doing the Halling dance! If a whole generation should suddenly decide to take up folk dancing, it is not unlikely that the Frikar dance company can take some of the credit. Not only has choreographer Hallgrim Hansegård demonstrated this dance's kinship with other acrobatic dance styles such as breaking and capoeira. He has also taken this traditional Norwegian dance to a new artistic level. The dance production KRUK! was described as a testosterone bomb with six of Norway's best Halling dancers. In the passionate and spirited piece Yr, Hansegård demonstrates why he was awarded the prize as folk music artist of the year in 2007. Also, costumes from designer duo Arne & Carlos and music by Lasse Thoresen performed by one of Norway's foremost violinists and Hardanger fiddlers, Ragnhild Hemsing. This is an evening based on Norwegian tradition.

With Frikar's own words: a night of refined savagery.
